1. Roll out a slab of clay
2. Smooth out the clay using the smooth side of a metal rib or a rubber rib
3. Pick out a cup and trace and cut it using a knife or a different sharp tool
4. Even out the edges around your left-over clay and make a rectangle shape (the height should depend on the height you want your monster to be

How I made my specific monster
6. Make a pinch pot pinky thick
7. Put it on top of the monster and smooth out the edges
8. Cut out an oval shaped mouth using a knife
9. Smooth out the inside of the monster
10. Add a tongue and use the back of a paint brush to make small dots
11. Make spikes and add them to the back of the monster
12. Make two flattened balls and put them above the mouth
13. Dip glaze the monster
The features that I added were
- A tongue to add a "silliness look" to the monster
- Spikes to make the monster look scarier and more "monster like"
- Big eyes to make the monster look cuter
